Temporary position for 12 months.

As a Legal Affairs Consultant, you play a crucial role in safeguarding the organization's legal interests by ensuring compliance with applicable laws. Your expertise is vital in protecting the organization's rights and fulfilling its obligations. You will represent the organization in various legal matters, potentially specializing in areas such as contested issues and corporate governance (including ethics, professional conduct, official registries, meeting documentation, and general meetings). You will provide guidance and support to clients and partners as part of development initiatives. Your recommendations will focus on enhancing standards, policies, and programs. Your projects will require in-depth knowledge of legal practices and frameworks. You will prepare actionable recommendations and solutions aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. Your analytical skills will be essential in addressing complex challenges, and effective coordination with stakeholders across different sectors will be necessary. Strong interpersonal skills are therefore critical.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Providing legal advice and support to various organizational units and decision-making bodies regarding initiatives and activities within your area of expertise.
  2. Conducting data analysis, performing studies, making informed recommendations, and drafting comprehensive reports.
  3. Interpreting relevant laws and regulations, issuing legal opinions, and preparing and validating rules, standards, policies, procedures, forms, and agreements.
  4. Identifying issues, challenges, and needs to establish target outcomes, and preparing actionable recommendations and plans.
  5. Representing the organization in legal proceedings, drafting necessary documents, preparing witnesses, delivering arguments, and negotiating favorable terms.
  6. Acting as a resource for your unit, clients, and partners.

What you bring to the table:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  2. A minimum of four years of pertinent experience.
  3. Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
  4. Proficiency in French is required.
