Job Summary

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Custodian. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our City facilities, ensuring they are safe and presentable for public use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform janitorial services, including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking facilities, to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Conduct basic facility maintenance tasks, such as repairing equipment, replacing light bulbs, and performing minor repairs, to ensure facilities are in good working order.
  • Set up and prepare facilities for events and activities, including arranging audio-visual equipment and furnishings, to ensure a positive user experience.
  • Provide excellent customer service to users, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure facilities are unlocked and secured in accordance with schedules, policies, and procedures, to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Complete administrative tasks, such as time cards, supply requests, and maintenance reports, to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Report any problems or concerns to the Foreman, Custodial, or designate, to ensure prompt attention and resolution.
Requirements
  • Partial High School education and ability to read, write, count, add, subtract, multiply, divide, and communicate verbally in a clear and effective manner.
  • Good organizational and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Direct/indirect related work experience, representing continuous learning of up to one month, is required.
  • A working knowledge of safe usage of powered and hand-operated janitorial equipment and products, as well as audio-visual equipment, is essential.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License and ability to provide own transportation when traveling between City facilities, with vehicle mileage reimbursed.
  • Basic computer skills are essential for this role.
