Job Overview

The Finance Operations Manager role is a pivotal position within DENSO North America, reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager. This role encompasses the comprehensive oversight of all financial and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with both domestic and international standards. The individual will be instrumental in formulating and enforcing accounting policies and procedures in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This position requires adept handling of multiple financial tasks under tight deadlines, including month-end closings, annual reporting, treasury management, and audit preparations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guarantee timely and precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting.
  2. Conduct thorough analysis and present financial statements to stakeholders, highlighting budget variances and key performance indicators.
  3. Oversee daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, inter-company dealings, and treasury management.
  4. Facilitate the preparation and negotiation of annual budgets with senior management.
  5. Develop and implement departmental objectives, collaborating with various teams across the organization.
  6. Lead projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring proper delegation and supervision of team members.
  7. Ensure compliance with accounting and customs regulations, addressing reporting requirements for both internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Manage the timely submission of all governmental reports, including Corporate Income Tax Returns, in collaboration with tax advisors.
  9. Possess in-depth knowledge of Canadian taxation, ensuring compliance with various tax obligations.
  10. Establish and maintain robust internal controls, supporting audit processes and compliance assessments.
  11. Coordinate external audits, ensuring adherence to IFRS and GAAP standards.
  12. Manage banking operations, including cash disbursements and foreign exchange transactions.
  13. Ensure timely collection and payment of accounts receivable/payable, resolving discrepancies as necessary.
  14. Engage with company leaders to address financial inquiries and reporting requests.
  15. Develop and implement new policies and procedures to improve workflow and resource utilization.
  16. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members, fostering a culture of growth and safety.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  2. A minimum of 8 years of progressive management experience in a similar capacity, preferably within the manufacturing or automotive sectors.
  3. Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Strong analytical capabilities to interpret and reconcile complex financial data.
  7. Familiarity with current accounting operations to enhance customer service.
  8. Customer-focused approach to resolving financial issues.
  9. Advanced understanding of accounting principles and basic tax regulations.
  10. Project management expertise.
  11. Proficient in financial systems (e.g., Oracle, JDE).
  12. Comprehensive understanding of the financial closing process.
  13. Knowledge of local and provincial compliance regulations.
  14. Experience in people management and development.
  15. Aptitude for developing and maintaining goals and objectives.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is CAD $96,000-$120,000.
