Job Overview
The Finance Operations Manager role is pivotal within Denso, reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager. This position is tasked with overseeing daily financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with customs regulations. The individual will develop and uphold financial policies and procedures that align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role requires adept management of tight deadlines and a variety of financial activities, including month-end close processes, annual reporting, treasury functions, and audit preparations.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reports.
- Analyze and present financial statements to stakeholders, highlighting budget variances, key performance indicators, and other essential reports.
- Review and authorize daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, inter-company transactions, and journal entries.
- Facilitate the preparation and negotiation of annual and revised budgets with management.
- Establish and execute departmental goals, collaborating strategically with other divisions within the organization.
- Lead projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring proper delegation and supervision of team members.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and customs regulations, fulfilling reporting obligations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the timely filing of government reports, including Corporate Income Tax Returns, coordinating with tax professionals as necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Canadian taxation, ensuring compliance with various tax obligations.
- Implement robust internal controls and assist with audits as required, ensuring adherence to GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage banking and finance operations, including cash disbursements and treasury activities.
- Ensure timely collection and payment of accounts receivable/payable, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
- Collaborate with management to address inquiries regarding financial results and reporting needs.
- Develop and implement new policies and procedures to improve workflow and resource utilization.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering professional development and a culture of safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive management experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing or automotive sectors.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret and reconcile financial data.
- Solid understanding of accounting operations to support customer service initiatives.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and basic tax regulations.
- Project management capabilities.
- Familiarity with financial systems such as Oracle or JDE.
- Comprehensive understanding of the financial closing process.
- Knowledge of local and provincial compliance requirements.
- Experience in people management and development.
- Ability to set and maintain goals and objectives.
Salary Range: CAD $96,000-$120,000.
