Job Summary:

The Pediatric Nurse Specialist is a key member of the Women & Children's Health team, responsible for assessing pediatric patients from infancy to adolescence. This role requires a strong commitment to parent and family education, as well as the ability to work independently in pediatric situations. The successful candidate will have a strong medical/surgical knowledge base and experience with patient safety and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess pediatric patients from infancy to adolescence
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide education to parents and families on pediatric care and health promotion

Requirements:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • BCLS certification within the last 2 years
  • Two years of pediatric experience
  • Ability to function independently in pediatric situations
  • Strong medical/surgical knowledge base
  • Completion of a recognized Breastfeeding Certificate Program
  • Experience with patient safety and quality initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills
