Job Summary:
The Pediatric Nurse Specialist is a key member of the Women & Children's Health team, responsible for assessing pediatric patients from infancy to adolescence. This role requires a strong commitment to parent and family education, as well as the ability to work independently in pediatric situations. The successful candidate will have a strong medical/surgical knowledge base and experience with patient safety and quality initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assess pediatric patients from infancy to adolescence
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality patient care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Provide education to parents and families on pediatric care and health promotion
Requirements:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
- Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- BCLS certification within the last 2 years
- Two years of pediatric experience
- Ability to function independently in pediatric situations
- Strong medical/surgical knowledge base
- Completion of a recognized Breastfeeding Certificate Program
- Experience with patient safety and quality initiatives
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
