Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Lead

Your Role

As a pivotal member of our dynamic team, you will engage in the design and implementation of innovative solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our specialized group in Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning offers a full suite of services, from initial planning to detailed engineering.

We are seeking a skilled Transportation & Traffic Engineering Manager / Project Manager with a robust background in transportation and traffic engineering. This role involves leading our transportation planning and traffic team in Atlantic Canada, ensuring the successful execution of a variety of projects.

In this capacity, you will oversee projects for a range of local clients, including provincial and municipal entities, as well as private developers. Your responsibilities will include promoting Stantec's services to both public and private sectors, fostering relationships, and identifying new business opportunities while cultivating a talented team of professionals in traffic and planning.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning projects across Atlantic Canada.
  • Ensure effective work management and technical performance on transportation engineering projects, meeting established timelines and objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in the development of transportation planning and traffic engineering scopes.
  • Collaborate with various design disciplines and staff across different offices.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including letters, technical memoranda, reports, graphics, and drawings to effectively communicate project information.
  • Engage with clients and the public to present our project portfolio.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal creation, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships while actively seeking new opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Mentor and oversee junior and intermediate staff in completing traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Your Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with relevant municipal and provincial standards in Atlantic Canada.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and transportation modeling software.
  • Experience collaborating with local municipalities and land developers in Atlantic Canada.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Planning, or a related field, with P.Eng. or RPP certification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic design and transportation planning within consulting or public sectors.

This position typically operates in an office environment, utilizing computer systems. Some travel may be necessary for client meetings or site visits. The role may also involve exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
