Envision being part of a vibrant team that crafts innovative solutions for a diverse clientele. Our Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning division offers a full spectrum of planning, design, and engineering services.
We are seeking a Transportation & Traffic Engineering Manager / Project Manager with a robust background in transportation and traffic engineering to lead our planning and traffic team in Atlantic Canada. This role involves overseeing planning, design, and construction management for a variety of projects.
In this capacity, you will manage projects for local clients, including provincial and municipal entities, as well as developers. You will be responsible for promoting Stantec's services to public and private sector organizations, fostering relationships, and creating business opportunities while mentoring a team of traffic and planning professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning projects throughout Atlantic Canada.
- Ensure effective work management and technical performance on transportation engineering projects, meeting established timelines and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and guide teams in developing transportation planning projects and traffic engineering scopes.
- Collaborate with other design disciplines and staff across various offices.
- Prepare comprehensive documents, including letters, technical memorandums, reports, graphics, and drawings to effectively communicate information to clients and industry peers.
- Engage with clients and the public regarding our project portfolio.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal development, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships while identifying opportunities for new business.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of project management principles.
- Mentor and provide oversight to junior and intermediate staff on traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Credentials
- Familiarity with relevant municipal and provincial standards in Atlantic Canada.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with transportation software such as Synchro/Simtraffic, VISSIM, Aimsum, EMME, HCS, CCG, etc.
- Experience collaborating with local municipalities and land developers in Atlantic Canada.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Planning, or a related field, with P.Eng. or RPP certification.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic design and transportation planning within consulting or public sectors.
This position is typically office-based, with some travel required for client meetings or site visits. Candidates may encounter various environmental conditions while visiting study areas or construction sites.
