We are seeking a Transportation & Traffic Engineering Manager / Project Manager with a robust background in transportation and traffic engineering to oversee planning, design, and construction management for a variety of projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading our transportation planning and traffic team.
In this capacity, you will manage projects for local clients, including provincial and municipal authorities as well as developers. You will also engage in marketing efforts to promote Stantec's services to surrounding public and private entities, fostering relationships and business opportunities while mentoring a team of traffic and planning professionals.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, direction, and guidance to ensure high-quality management, design, and technical services are delivered to clients, meeting performance objectives. With a comprehensive understanding of all engineering disciplines related to transportation projects, you will apply your experience and judgment to address challenges for a wide array of private and public sector clients. A proactive approach, exceptional technical writing skills, and in-depth knowledge of transportation planning concepts, modeling, and traffic engineering are essential. Your Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing and managing Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning projects.
- Ensuring effective work management and technical performance on transportation engineering projects to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Providing technical leadership and guiding teams in the development of transportation planning projects and traffic engineering scopes.
- Collaborating with other design disciplines and staff.
- Preparing comprehensive documents, including letters, technical memorandums, reports, graphics, and drawings to effectively communicate information to clients and industry peers.
- Engaging with clients and the public regarding our project portfolio.
- Contributing to business development efforts, including proposal development, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Maintaining existing client relationships while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Exhibiting a strong understanding of project management principles.
- Providing mentorship and oversight to junior and intermediate staff in traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Familiarity with relevant municipal and provincial standards and requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with transportation software and methodologies, such as Synchro/Simtraffic, VISSIM, Aimsum, EMME, HCS, and CCG.
- Experience collaborating with local municipalities and land developers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Planning, or a related field, with P.Eng. or RPP certification.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic design and transportation planning within consulting or public sectors.
This position typically involves an office environment with computer work. Some travel may be necessary for client meetings or document delivery. Field visits may also occur, exposing you to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
