Position Overview

As an integral part of the MLSE catering division, you will take charge of all operational aspects of events at our premier venues. Your leadership will ensure exceptional service delivery and flawless event execution for a diverse range of corporate and social gatherings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee staffing requirements and event logistics, including rental orders and supply management, ensuring each event's decor is meticulously arranged.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive setup outlines, production schedules, and seating arrangements.
  • Assign pre- and post-event tasks to the service team and supervisory staff.
  • Coordinate the flow of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), working closely with culinary teams and clients to ensure seamless service.
  • Manage on-site operations during events, addressing any client or guest inquiries promptly.
  • Supervise regular service operations when catering events are not in progress, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Quickly resolve any discrepancies in orders with professionalism and composure.
  • Ensure all opening and closing procedures are executed with precision.
  • Document service challenges and their resolutions for future reference.
  • Compile post-event reports, including financial data and overall performance analysis.
  • Facilitate weekly BEO meetings and keep the team updated on any changes.
  • Mentor, train, and inspire junior leaders and operational teams.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment, ensuring departmental goals and vision are upheld.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including conducting employee performance evaluations.
  • Communicate essential event details to the leadership team effectively.
  • Adhere to MLSE's service standards and operational policies.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Effectively manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary, demonstrating independence and initiative.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in the events or catering sector.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Commitment to client satisfaction with a focus on quality service.
  • Proficient in MS Office, inventory management, and POS systems; familiarity with TripleSeat is a plus.
  • Experience in managing operational budgets and implementing cost control strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships.
  • Effective communicator and motivator with leadership capabilities.
  • Proactive in handling daily tasks and adapting to changing demands.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Trained in WHMIS, Smart Serve, ServSafe, NFSTP, or equivalent certifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of food, wine, beer, and spirits.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
