Job Summary

Mon Sheong Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dietary Aide to join our team at the Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality standard of food production, cleanliness, and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals to residents in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Notify the Supervisor/Cook if food or supply inventory is low, ensuring that the kitchen is always well-stocked.
  • Receive, label, store, and check food and supplies in proper storage areas, adhering to food safety guidelines.
  • Prepare food, snacks, and desserts for regular, texture-modified, and therapeutic diets, ensuring that all meals are palatable and served at the right temperature.
  • Ensure that all food served meets the required portion sizes and is presented in an appealing manner.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Clean up the dining room, wash equipment, and collect and remove garbage from the kitchen, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Follow the assigned daily cleaning and work activity schedule, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

  • Food handler certificate.
  • Institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience.
  • Or one of the following qualifications: students hired on a seasonal or part-time basis who have successfully completed a food handler training program; persons who meet the qualifications as a cook; or persons who have a post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.
  • Other education requirements are specified in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
  • Experience working in long-term care/health care settings, institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is preferred.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Able to pull/push a 500-pound food warming cart.
  • Long periods of standing, walking, and repeated bending.
