Position Summary

The Small Molecules Analytical Research and Development (SM ARD) division at Allergan provides extensive analytical support for projects in the initial phases of development. This division engages with projects from the discovery stage and continues its support until they reach advanced stages. The responsibilities of SM ARD encompass thorough analytical method development, validation, and testing throughout the project's lifecycle, as well as robust analytical assistance in resolving project-specific challenges.

We are in search of a highly driven individual with a solid track record and a keen interest in analytical chemistry to become a part of the Pilot Plant Analytical Flex Team. The ideal candidate will play an active role in the development and validation of analytical methods, support API campaigns, manage large sample volumes, and collaborate with Pilot Plant stakeholders. Additionally, the Scientist will mentor and supervise junior analysts within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function in a dual capacity as both a laboratory analyst and a supervisor.
  • Plan and execute analytical tasks independently and efficiently, ensuring reliable results consistently. This includes both routine sample testing and method development and validation.
  • Act as the analytical authority and guide for junior analysts, assisting with method development, validation, troubleshooting, and experimental design.
  • Document experimental activities and outcomes in compliance with GMP standards, with meticulous attention to detail, utilizing electronic data management systems and electronic laboratory notebooks. Verify the work of other analysts.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly regarding issues, challenges, and solutions, both within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills. Author and revise analytical methods, reports, and memos.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and coordinate tasks among multiple analysts to ensure timely execution.
Qualifications

The position will be filled based on the candidate's level of experience:

  • Scientist I: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with typically 5 years of experience, or Master's Degree with typically 2 years of experience.
  • Scientist II: Bachelor's Degree with typically 7 or more years of experience, or Master's Degree with typically 5 or more years of experience.
  • Experience in analytical chromatographic chemistry, preferably in a GMP or QC laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency with HPLC and GMP documentation is essential. Experience with GC and/or Mass Spectrometry is highly desirable. Familiarity with method development and validation is preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting instruments is preferred.
  • A quick learner with a passion for analytical chemistry, experienced in working with laboratory-scale analytical equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including 10-20% off-shift work (late evenings, early mornings, or weekends).
  • Adaptability and flexibility in response to changing timelines and task priorities.
  • Willingness to alternate work between different sites as needed.
