Position Overview:
The Small Molecules Analytical Research and Development (SM ARD) division at Allergan offers extensive analytical support for projects in the early development stages. The SM ARD team engages with projects from the discovery phase through to late-stage development, providing essential analytical method development, validation, and testing throughout the project lifecycle.

We are looking for a driven individual with a solid background in analytical chemistry to become part of our Pilot Plant Analytical Flex Team. The successful candidate will engage in the development and validation of analytical methods, support API campaigns, conduct extensive sample testing, and collaborate with Pilot Plant stakeholders. Additionally, this role includes mentoring and supervising junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function in a dual capacity as both a laboratory analyst and a supervisory figure.
  • Execute analytical tasks efficiently and independently, ensuring reliable results in a timely manner, which includes routine sample testing and method development.
  • Act as an analytical expert and mentor to junior team members, providing guidance in method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of experimental activities and results in compliance with GMP standards, utilizing electronic data management systems.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly regarding issues, solutions, and project updates with both team members and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, including authoring and revising analytical methods and reports.
  • Coordinate tasks and assignments among multiple analysts to ensure timely execution of project objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Scientist I: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with typically 5 years of experience, or Master's Degree with typically 2 years of experience.
  • Scientist II: Bachelor's Degree with typically 7 or more years of experience, or Master's Degree with typically 5 or more years of experience.
  • Experience in analytical chromatographic chemistry, preferably in a GMP or QC laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in HPLC and GMP documentation is essential; experience with GC and/or Mass Spectrometry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with method development and validation is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation issues is advantageous.
  • Must be a quick learner with a keen interest in analytical chemistry and experience with laboratory-scale analytical equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional off-shift work.
  • Adaptability to changing timelines and task priorities is crucial.
  • Flexibility to work across different sites as needed.
