Director of Credit Risk for International Wealth Management

We are seeking a results-oriented leader to oversee the credit quality of our International Wealth Management loan portfolio while collaborating on strategic policy and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a client-centric culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage the broader organizational resources and expertise.
- Work closely with International Private Banking on transactions and risk appetite discussions, contributing to the development and promotion of a robust risk culture.
- Partner with International Private Banking to streamline policies and processes within International Wealth Management and identify strategic growth opportunities.
- Evaluate credit applications within designated limits as a Credit Officer, providing recommendations for exceptions to the Senior Credit Committee, and authorize necessary amendments and documentation.
- Collaborate with local credit units and International Wealth Management teams to provide guidance on non-standard transactions as needed.
- Ensure sustainable and profitable growth in Wealth Management credit portfolios by:
- Making informed and timely credit decisions within assigned limits through comprehensive analysis and appropriate structuring.
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of lending policies and strategies.
- Staying vigilant to emerging market opportunities.
- Maintain the existing portfolio at an acceptable quality and risk level by:
- Monitoring the assigned portfolio and approved credits across various dimensions, ensuring compliance with credit conditions, identifying issues, and implementing timely corrective actions.
- Proactively identifying and managing underperforming accounts.
- Informing management of unfavorable trends and recommending appropriate actions.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
- Support the broader development of the organization by undertaking various responsibilities, including:
- Participating in due diligence for potential acquisitions.
- Completing special projects as required.
- Direct daily operations in alignment with the organization's risk culture and established risk appetite.
- Reinforce the organization's risk culture and appetite throughout the team.
- Encourage an environment where the team effectively manages their portfolios while adhering to operational risk controls and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture that attracts, retains, and develops talent by fostering an inclusive workplace and managing succession planning.
Qualifications:
- Extensive credit experience with 5-10 years in lending (experience in IPL structuring is advantageous).
- Fluency in Spanish is essential due to the team's geographic focus.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of workout scenarios.
- Understanding of competitive practices and market trends.
- A business degree and/or a diverse background in banking; an MBA or CA designation is a plus.
