Education Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant to join our team at Blue Mountain Elementary School. This is a continuing appointment beginning September 3, 2024, working 28 hours per week, while school is in session.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with special needs in a classroom setting
  • Assist with modifying curriculum to suit individual student needs
  • Develop and implement behavior management strategies
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support complex programs
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 plus the Special Education Teaching Assistant program or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Knowledge of behavior management, conflict resolution, and restraining techniques
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively as a member of a team
  • Flexibility, patience, stamina, emotional stability, and maturity to assist students with a variety of challenges
  • Sufficient physical strength, health, and coordination to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job
  • May be required to have a valid B.C. Driver's License
