We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Support Specialist to join our team at School District #42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows). As an Education Support Specialist, you will provide critical support to classroom teachers in creating inclusive learning environments for students of all ages.
Key Responsibilities- Assist classroom teachers in developing and implementing individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement behavior management strategies and conflict resolution techniques.
- Modify curriculum to meet the needs of individual students, including those with learning difficulties or special needs.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as behavior management, conflict resolution, and learning strategies.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Special Education Teaching Assistant program or equivalent.
- Successful experience working with individuals with special needs.
- Knowledge of behavior management, conflict resolution, and restraining techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Flexibility, patience, stamina, emotional stability, and maturity to assist students with diverse challenges.
- Sufficient physical strength, health, and coordination to perform job duties.
- Valid BC Driver's license.
- Competitive hourly rate of $33.72 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
