Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at Blue Mountain Elementary School. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing individualized attention, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with special needs in a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and other school areas.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Provide behavioral support and interventions to help students manage challenging behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Special Education Teaching Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, conflict resolution, and restraining techniques.
  • Ability to modify curriculum to suit individual students' needs.
  • Basic signing skills (optional).
  • Flexibility, patience, stamina, emotional stability, and maturity to support students with diverse needs.
  • Sufficient physical strength, health, and coordination to perform job duties.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License (optional).
What We Offer
  • 28 hours per week, while school is in session.
  • $34.73/Hour.
  • Additional hours may be available.
