Position Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist 2 to enhance our Medical Imaging department. This position may offer a financial recruitment incentive of up to $20,000, subject to specific conditions. Additionally, candidates may qualify for housing and relocation support.

VCH is in search of a Radiological Technologist 2 to contribute to the Medical Imaging team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate independently, with limited access to a Clinical Supervisor during most of the designated shift.
  • Conduct diagnostic radiographic examinations in line with departmental protocols, ensuring adherence to safe radiation protection standards.
  • Process and fulfill requisitions, input relevant information into the radiology information system, prepare patients for examinations, monitor them throughout procedures, operate radiographic machinery, and maintain cleanliness in examination areas.

The community is a picturesque island located off the central coast of British Columbia, known for its stunning natural beauty, including channels, inlets, and ancient forests. It is a habitat for diverse wildlife, including salmon, orcas, and bald eagles. The area enjoys a mild climate, making it an ideal location for outdoor activities such as kayaking, sport fishing, hiking, and photography.

The facility has a total of 7 acute care beds, 7 long-term care beds, and a 4-bed emergency department that operates around the clock, along with laboratory and diagnostic imaging services. It also provides telehealth services and specialty clinics. The healthcare team comprises various professionals, including Physicians, RNs, LPNs, and Technologists.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Certification with the CAMRT is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven knowledge and adherence to safe operating procedures with radiology equipment.
  • Ability to perform radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competence in operating related equipment.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in collaboration with team members.
  • Proficiency in CPR techniques.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Basic computer skills to manage a computerized patient care information system.

Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and the provisions of the Collective Agreement. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
