Job Summary:

The FSQA Coordinator at Maple Leaf Foods is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of food safety programs through task review, verification, and monitoring activities, as well as program review and auditing functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct CCP/PCP and/or prerequisite training and other food safety training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in annual HACCP review and reassessment with cross-functional teams and update the program accordingly.
  • Coordinate FSQA document management (SOPs, training materials, policies, etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks related to food safety and quality control.
  • Maintain and coordinate verification and changes to SOPs and forms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support and/or deliver FSQA trainings to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Participate in meetings and projects as required to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Responsible for managing Pest Control and Building Interior/Exterior Inspection programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide backup support to HACCP Auditor and FSQA Compliance Auditor as needed.
  • Update QNs in SAP and present Quality notification reports and supporting documents for CFIA, internal, external, and customer audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the effective functioning of food safety programs.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., food science, quality assurance, regulatory compliance).
  • Internal audit experience, formal training, or certification in a related field (e.g., HACCP, food safety, quality assurance).
  • Experience in Federal food safety regulations (MIR, MOP, FSEP) as well as BRC standards.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and maintaining HACCP Plans.
  • 3+ years of experience in the food industry, preferably in a quality assurance or regulatory compliance role.
  • Strong communication skills: written and verbal in English.
  • Comfortable leading complex technical discussions with all levels of employees and regulatory agencies.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a cold temperature manufacturing environment.
