About the Role

As a Lead Game Designer at Ubisoft Québec, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise. You will be responsible for guiding a team of talented designers and collaborating with various production teams to bring innovative gameplay experiences to life.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Content Director and Platform Director to define the overarching product vision for Assassin's Creed games.
  • Develop comprehensive project scope plans, outlining timelines, system implementations, and key mechanics.
  • Lead and mentor your design team, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity thrives. Provide guidance, feedback, and support to ensure the successful execution of features.
  • Oversee the development process for game features, including progression systems, mechanics, and documentation. Ensure alignment with project goals and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, designers, programmers, artists, and animators across different teams to maintain consistent vision and communication throughout production.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Cultivate a culture of sharing and continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment, addressing any conflicts or behavioral issues effectively.
  • Participate in the recruitment process to expand the design team's talent pool.

Your Qualifications

  • A degree in video game development, project management, or a related field (an undergraduate degree is an asset).
  • Proven experience in video game development, particularly within live/online game environments.
  • Extensive proficiency with game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal), productivity software, and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • A strong understanding of the gaming market and a genuine passion for video games.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of 2D art tools (e.g., Photoshop) and 3D software (e.g., 3DS Max) is a significant advantage.
