Job Title: BlasterMining

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Blaster to join our team at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site in the Northwest Territories. As a Blaster, you will be responsible for safely and effectively loading, stemming, tying-in, and shooting large diameter blast-hole patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and direct all activities on blast patterns in a safe and effective manner;
  • Conduct field tests to determine type and quantity of explosives required;
  • Address open pit drill and blast objectives, assumptions, needs, and results;
  • Work with various teams in the open pit;
  • Mentor Blaster helpers;
  • Coordinate activities across a variety of groups (Geology, Mine Operations etc);
  • Follow all explosives regulations and site procedures;
  • Provide leadership for all team members, especially on the safety front.

Requirements:

  • Certified Blaster with NWT Blasting Certificate;
  • Five to eight years of experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in an open pit;
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work well at a fast pace;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards;
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
