Position Overview: The De Beers Group of Companies is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to become part of the Mining division at our operations. This role involves a commitment to excellence in the field of blasting and is pivotal to our mining processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing all aspects of blast pattern execution in a secure and efficient manner;
  • Performing field assessments to ascertain the necessary types and quantities of explosives;
  • Addressing objectives, assumptions, and outcomes related to open pit drilling and blasting;
  • Collaborating with various teams within the open pit environment;
  • Providing mentorship to Blaster assistants;
  • Coordinating efforts across multiple departments including Geology and Mine Operations;
  • Adhering to all regulations regarding explosives and site protocols;
  • Exemplifying leadership for all team members, particularly concerning safety.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Drill & Blast Supervisor and is integral to the Mine Operations department. It is a permanent, site-based role with a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid NWT Blasting Certificate;
  • A minimum of five to eight years of experience in the mining sector, ideally within open pit operations;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards;
  • Experience in remote mining locations and diverse cultural settings.
