Rincon Consultants, Inc. is on the lookout for a Sustainability Planner with a strong background in environmental assessment and permitting, particularly in relation to renewable energy and electric transmission projects. This position entails overseeing and conducting research, fieldwork, impact evaluations, report generation, and business development associated with environmental regulations and studies. We offer a unique opportunity for an Environmental Planner/Scientist to collaborate with leading clients on innovative projects across California. The role supports flexible work arrangements, including remote options within the state.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and oversee the creation of environmental documentation for renewable energy and electric transmission initiatives.
  2. Conduct and manage feasibility assessments and constraint analyses.
  3. Handle current planning tasks through the entitlement and permitting processes.
  4. Engage with clients and deliver presentations to decision-making bodies.
  5. Facilitate agency consultations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  6. Exhibit confidence in decision-making and be recognized for expertise in environmental assessments.
  7. Comprehend the comprehensive environmental scope of projects and their implications for various stakeholders.
  8. Contribute to advancing California's clean energy initiatives.

This Role May Suit You If You Possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental planning principles, practices, and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • A practical understanding of CEQA and/or NEPA, along with familiarity with other environmental statutes.
  • Strong motivation, excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail, resourcefulness, effective time management, and creativity.
  • A proactive approach to managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Robust research and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
