Our commitment to quality and client satisfaction has established us as a leading provider in the solar sector.

Position Overview:
The Solar Energy Design Specialist at Kootenay Employment Services Society is instrumental in crafting initial solar project proposals for the sales team and converting finalized agreements into comprehensive designs and permit documentation that adhere to all regulatory standards. Reporting to the Administrative Manager, this position ensures an efficient transition between the sales team and our project management systems. The Solar Energy Design Specialist will utilize industry-standard design tools and internal frameworks to produce precise, high-quality solar designs that support both sales and permitting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Solar Design & Proposal Development: Collaborate with the sales team to generate preliminary solar designs and proposals that meet client specifications. Employ industry-standard design software and internal templates to create accurate solar system layouts.
  2. Technical Guidance: Offer technical insights to the sales team, ensuring that all designs are practical, optimized for efficiency, and economically viable.
  3. Permit Documentation Preparation: After contract finalization, transform sales proposals into detailed permit documentation for the permitting team. Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, utilizing manufacturer design tools as necessary.
  4. Coordination of Handoffs: Facilitate a seamless transition between the sales department and the administrative and project management teams. Convert designs into the relevant software systems for ongoing project tracking and management.
  5. Collaboration with Administrative Teams: Work closely with the administrative team to guarantee that all required documentation and designs are ready for permit submission and project execution.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all designs, proposals, and permit documentation. Ensure that only current documentation is shared with the administration and operations teams.
  7. Software Proficiency: Utilize industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolarGraf, Aurora) and internal templates to create and modify solar designs. Stay informed about the latest tools and techniques to improve design quality and efficiency.
  8. Administrative Assistance: Provide additional support to the administrative department as required, including assisting with permit submissions and liaising with local authorities.
  9. Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in solar design. Actively seek opportunities to enhance the quality and efficiency of the design process and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in design-related training.

    6. Familiarity with local permitting processes and regulations is a plus.
    7. Certifications: NABCEP certification or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
