Reporting directly to the Director of Reporting and Compliance, the Financial Compliance Manager is tasked with a comprehensive range of services focused on financial adherence and assessment.

This role entails supervising compliance monitoring, assessing functions, and ensuring accountability for public resources. You will play a crucial role in sustaining an effective financial environment through robust internal controls while providing strategic guidance to a team of 11 finance and administrative professionals distributed across the province.

This position empowers ministry management and personnel to meet their financial duties and obligations related to processing payments and cash/revenue transactions, maintaining suitable internal controls, and adhering to relevant policies and procedures.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

Regularly assessing and optimizing practices and internal controls to reduce the risk of fraud and errors in daily financial transactions, ensuring the implementation of best practices. Formulating and executing processes and procedures to guarantee that program staff accurately and efficiently handle payments to clients and vendors, manage revenue, and perform associated financial functions. Leading the Financial Compliance Team and contributing to operational planning initiatives. Fostering effective working relationships among team members. Mentoring and supporting team members in cultivating productive relationships with divisional, program, and corporate staff. Monitoring and evaluating financial functions to ensure that ministry risks are mitigated, accountability for public resources is upheld, and financial activities comply with legislation. Developing programs and implementing processes to ensure that program staff accurately and efficiently manage payments to clients and vendors, oversee revenue, and execute related financial functions. Leading the Financial Compliance Team and contributing to operational planning initiatives. Continuously assessing and optimizing practices and internal controls to minimize the risk of fraud and errors in daily financial transactions, ensuring the implementation of best practices. Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of ministry financial and management control systems, compliance with legislation, policies and procedures, and the accuracy and reliability of internal management and performance reporting.
