Job Overview

Salary Range - $40,000 - $45,000

As a Warehouse Material Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to efficiently manage the picking, packing, and dispatching of customer orders. You will also be tasked with counting, verifying, receiving, and organizing incoming materials from vendors and handling customer returns. Proficiency in operating telehandlers and forklifts, along with maintaining a tidy and organized warehouse environment, will be crucial for success in this role. A keen attention to detail is essential to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations while executing job responsibilities.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles, operate forklifts and other material handling machinery.
  • Conduct snow removal tasks using on-site equipment.
  • Perform occasional local deliveries using company vehicles.
  • Manage receiving tasks, including verifying materials against packing slips and documenting any discrepancies or damages. Ensure accurate entry of received materials into the inventory system.
  • Handle picking, packing, and shipping duties, ensuring that customer orders are accurately fulfilled and appropriately packaged for shipment.
  • Notify supervisors of any inventory discrepancies or damaged materials that may affect service levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse and yard, including the removal of debris and empty containers.
  • Communicate any safety concerns to the Health and Safety representative or management.
  • Assist colleagues in providing customer service at the counter.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience in the construction industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to acquire comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn safe operation of forklifts and other equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the relevant software systems for order processing.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Valid driver's abstract required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with plumbing and building products.
  • Experience with inventory management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
