Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of engineering consultancy (both operational and technical), internal client strategy, and has experience in Bridge, Road, Infrastructure, Mining, and/or field services projects, along with a solid track record in leadership.

Daily Responsibilities

As the leader of a well-established local engineering team, the Civil Group Manager will engage in collaboration, listening, and learning from our broader Grande Prairie & Allnorth team to identify the best strategies for growth and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing personnel, including evaluation and recruitment
  • Serving as a technical authority
  • Overseeing a team of engineers, designers, and technicians, managing workloads, and prioritizing training
  • Handling various projects such as infrastructure enhancements and subdivision developments, including the design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation systems
  • Providing technical direction to a team of Professional Engineers, EITs, and designers to produce preliminary to detailed design documents and specifications
  • Conducting project cost estimates, analyses, design reviews, and preparing reports, proposals, and contract documents
  • Cultivating and maintaining business relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Interfacing directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly outline project requirements and expectations for successful project delivery across various regions
  • Collaborating with Civil Engineering (and other discipline) leads across Allnorth to enhance and develop practices to meet or exceed industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Alberta
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and project management
  • Experience in municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects
  • Strong project management, technical, and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, demonstrated through experience in preparing correspondence, reports, and proposals
  • Effective verbal communicator, with skills in presentation, facilitation, and active listening
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; capable of mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Decisive, with the ability to act based on available information, constraints, and anticipated outcomes.
