Daily Responsibilities

As the leader of a well-established local engineering team, the Civil Group Manager will engage in collaboration, active listening, and learning from the broader Grande Prairie & Allnorth team to chart a sustainable growth path.

Key responsibilities include:

Personnel management, including evaluation and recruitment Serving as a technical authority Overseeing a team of engineers, designers, and technicians, managing workloads, and prioritizing training Managing diverse projects such as infrastructure enhancements and subdivision developments, encompassing the design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation systems Providing technical direction to a team of Professional Engineers, EITs, and designers to produce preliminary to detailed design documents and specifications Conducting project cost estimates, analyses, design reviews, and preparing reports, proposals, and contract documents Cultivating and maintaining business relationships with existing and prospective clients Directly interfacing with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations to ensure successful project delivery across various regions Collaborating with Civil Engineering (and other discipline) leads throughout Allnorth to maintain and enhance the practice to or beyond industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Alberta Over 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and project management Experience in municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects Strong project management, technical, and analytical capabilities Excellent communication and technical writing skills, demonstrated through the preparation of correspondence, reports, and proposals Effective verbal communicator, with skills in presentation, facilitation, and active listening Ability to work independently and collaboratively; capable of mentoring junior engineers and designers Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail Decisive, with the ability to take action based on available information, constraints, and anticipated outcomes.
