The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of engineering consulting, internal client strategy, and experience in projects related to bridges, roads, infrastructure, mining, and field services, along with a proven leadership background.

Typical Responsibilities

As the Civil Group Lead, you will oversee a well-established local engineering team, collaborating with colleagues to identify optimal strategies for growth and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing personnel, including evaluation and recruitment
  • Serving as a technical authority
  • Leading a team of engineers, designers, and technicians, overseeing workload and prioritizing training
  • Managing diverse projects, including infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, focusing on the design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation systems
  • Providing technical guidance to Professional Engineers, EITs, and designers to produce detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Conducting project cost estimates, analyses, design reviews, and preparing reports and proposals
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Interfacing with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clarify project requirements and expectations
  • Collaborating with Civil Engineering leads across Allnorth to enhance and develop best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Alberta
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and project management
  • Experience in municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects
  • Strong project management, technical, and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, demonstrated through experience in preparing reports and proposals
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Decisive, with the ability to act based on available information and anticipated outcomes.
