About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As an Administrative Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the Director and the Maine and Aquaculture Divisions, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Director and the Maine and Aquaculture Divisions, including tracking correspondence, memos, and documentation.
  • Respond to and direct incoming inquiries, and coordinate calendars, meetings, and agendas.
  • Assist with monitoring budget-related documents and perform other routine day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Track and order supplies, and perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You have completed a 1-year secretarial/business administration diploma, and three years related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and judgement skills.
  • You are able to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including clients, community members, stakeholders, industry members, and all levels of government staff.
  • You have experience with ordering and receiving supplies, processing invoices for payment, and general filing, records management, and database management.
  • You have demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision to prioritize work demands and meet deadlines while exercising appropriate judgement.
