At Intact Financial Corporation, we're seeking a skilled Legal Counsel - Insurance Defence to join our team. As a key member of our litigation team, you'll play a critical role in defending our clients against complex insurance claims.

About the Role

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced litigator with a strong background in insurance defence law. You'll be responsible for handling a variety of cases, including marine, long-haul trucking, entertainment, class action, director & officer, and errors & omissions claims. Your expertise in drafting pleadings, conducting discoveries, mediations, and trials will be essential in achieving successful outcomes for our clients.

Your Skills

  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario
  • 5+ years of experience handling specialty lines work, including defence of director & officer and error & omissions claims, abuse claims, class action, marine, long-haul trucking, and entertainment
  • Expertise in drafting pleadings, conducting discoveries, mediations, and trials
  • Superior organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple case files simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective client relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with research and negotiation experience
  • Analytical skills, ability to work independently, and solid communication skills
  • Set high standards, be an agent of change, adaptive, with a strong drive to outperform
