About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic II to join our Fleet Services Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing equipment failure, repairing, rebuilding, and adjusting a variety of government mobile machinery and equipment used for road maintenance activities.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Diagnose equipment failure and perform repairs, rebuilds, and adjustments on government mobile machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with field repairs as required and perform other related duties to complete equipment repairs, modifications, and/or preventative maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience

We require a high school diploma and a Provincial Certificate of Qualification in the Truck and Transport Trade, plus five (5) years of diversified mechanical experience. A valid Nova Scotia driver's license with Air Brakes and an acceptable driving record are also necessary. A Provincial Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Duty Equipment and Air Conditioning Certification are desirable.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a mechanical repair environment with occasional exposure to noise, smoke, and gas fumes. Considerable standing, lifting, carrying, and moving about are requirements of this position.
