About Our OpportunityWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanic II to join our Fleet Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a variety of government mobile machinery and equipment used for road maintenance activities. You will work in a mechanical repair environment, using specialized tools and equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
Primary Accountabilities- Diagnose equipment failure and repair, rebuild, and adjust government mobile machinery and equipment used for road maintenance activities.
- Assist with field repairs as required and perform other related duties to complete equipment repairs, modifications, and/or preventative maintenance.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and participate fully as an effective team player.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Completed high school and hold a Provincial Certificate of Qualification in the Truck and Transport Trade.
- Five (5) years of diversified mechanical experience.
- A valid Nova Scotia driver's license with Air Brakes and an acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge of computer-controlled diagnostic technology and computer competency are considered assets.

This role requires working in a mechanical repair environment, which may involve:
- Noise, smoke, and gas fumes.
- Adverse weather conditions while operating in a field environment.
- Considerable standing, lifting, carrying, and moving about.
This is a 52-week Year-Round position, with normal hours of work being 8am - 4:30pm. However, you may be required to work outside of regular hours to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
