Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Forensic Accounting Specialist to become an integral part of our internal investigation team (IIU). In this role, you will play a crucial part in addressing internal threats through your expertise in data analysis and investigative techniques. Your passion for uncovering evidence will guide your leadership in our investigations, positioning you as a fraud expert and mentor within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain tools for fraud detection within the IIU.
- Oversee tracking and escalation processes to ensure timely and sustainable resolution of issues identified through tool development.
- Take full ownership of non-detection and investigative activities with minimal supervision.
- Review multiple claims, documents, and communications to identify potential internal threats and take appropriate action.
- Lead investigations, including data extraction, analysis, open-source research, and collaboration with executive teams, while supporting fellow IIU members.
- Conduct interviews with internal personnel and witnesses.
- Train new team members, serving as a role model and mentor.
- Enhance knowledge through relevant courses and seminars, while organizing training sessions for the IIU team.
- Review files for the team and identify training opportunities.
- Collaborate with IIU management to identify business risks and develop actionable plans.
- Act as a leader within the team, providing support to IIU management.
Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in forensic accounting, auditing, insurance, or investigations.
- A Master's degree in forensic accounting is advantageous.
- Current CPA-CFF certification (Québec CPA-EJC).
- AMF Licence 5a.
- Bilingualism is required for candidates in Quebec to facilitate interaction with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
- Certified Fraud Examiner designation is a plus.
- Proficient in computer technology, particularly with strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and factual reports.
- Proven ability to drive change at both strategic and tactical levels with autonomy.
- Ability to maintain a broad perspective and a global vision.
- High tolerance for ambiguity.
- Capacity to proactively identify trends, draw meaningful conclusions, and implement recommendations.
