Job Summary:

The Modeling Lead at Reel FX Creative Studios is responsible for creating high-quality 3D models for real-time applications. This role requires strong technical skills, artistic vision, and leadership abilities to guide a team of artists.

Key Responsibilities:


• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of current industry production processes and tools, including Maya and Zbrush.
• Collaborate with the Modeling Supervisor to review artist work and ensure technical and artistic standards are met.
• Provide guidance and training to new hires on pipeline tools and best practices.
• Prepare documentation and guides to teach new tools and workflows to other artists.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues, working with the Supervisor to plan corrective action.
• Recognize and reward excellent performance from artists.
• Critique models both artistically and technically, providing constructive feedback as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with new tools and workflows, coordinating with the Supervisor to implement them into existing practices.

Requirements:


• Bachelor's degree in fine arts or animation, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Feature Film, Commercial, and/or Video Game production.
• Strong knowledge of current industry production processes and tools.
• Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
• Ability to make creative, artistic, and aesthetic judgment calls.
• Prior experience in supervising or training is an asset.
• Proficient with Maya and Zbrush, with good knowledge of Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
• Mastery of poly and sub-D modeling in Maya, Modo, or other comparable high-end software.
• Understanding of facial rigging, including creation of facial blendshape sets and expressions.
• Understanding of surfacing, including ability to create UV sets.
• Strong aesthetic sense, demonstrating ability to make creative and aesthetic judgment calls.
