About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing analytical tests and procedures in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. You will possess the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests, both manual and automated, in the clinical and environmental laboratories.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is a graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist and is licensed with NSCMLT or eligible. Registration with CSMLS is also required. You must be able to work shiftwork, including weekends and holidays as required, and be willing to travel when necessary. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analytical tests and procedures in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
  • Operate instruments that are often computer integrated and networked
  • Use computerized information systems to compare test results to pre-established criteria
  • Exercise independent judgment in making decisions regarding the reportability of results
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
