Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Leader to facilitate our Guide to High School program, supporting Grade 7 participants in their transition to high school.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver and oversee the Guide to High School program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for participants.
  2. Become familiar with the program curriculum and lead program discussions on complex topics such as identity, power dynamics, and bullying.
  3. Lead a meaningful weekly territorial acknowledgment and ensure the physical and emotional safety of program participants.
  4. Intervene in incidents of distracting or concerning behavior and oversee attendance and dismissal of participants each session.
  5. Purchase program snacks each week and support a volunteer team of 2 adult facilitators and 2-3 high school students in delivering the program each week.
  6. Communicate weekly amongst teams of volunteers to assist with delegating program responsibilities and provide coaching and feedback to volunteers.
  7. Ensure the program is delivered effectively and maintain weekly communication with YWCA Program staff about the status of the program.
  8. Attend approximately 17 hours of hybrid (in-person and online) training sessions and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  1. Must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum one year of demonstrated facilitation experience.
  2. Current First Aid certificate and university/college coursework or degree in social work, youth work, psychology, education, or related field an asset.
  3. Knowledge/experience with the YWCA's Youth Education Programs an asset and experience working with youth and volunteers.
  4. Self-driven, highly motivated, and organized with strong leadership, communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  5. A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
