About the Role

As a key member of the Undergraduate Programs team at Simon Fraser University, you will provide administrative, clerical, and secretarial support to the Faculty of Education undergraduate programs. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing general information regarding undergraduate programs, courses, activities, and policies and procedures.
  • Analyzing and resolving non-routine student registration and admission problems for both on-campus and external site students.
  • Responding to students' requests for assistance with grading issues, such as grading guidelines, grade appeals, deferrals, extensions, withdrawals, unscheduled course cancellations, and rescheduled exams.
  • Assisting students with registering for undergraduate Education courses and coordinating course changes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the Undergraduate Programs' website and social media channels.
  • Providing secretarial support to the Undergraduate Programs Committee (UPC), including preparing and distributing agendas, recording and transcribing minutes, and uploading minutes on the departmental web page.
  • Reconciling monthly budget expenditures.
Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to assist students, staff, and instructors via email, phone, or in person.
  • A strong understanding of departmental policies, operations, and the ability to address student inquiries effectively.
  • Experience with managing schedules and using Macs, as well as a willingness to learn new software.
  • A high school graduation and one year of post-secondary education or formal program equivalent, including training in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing applications.
  • Four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study, and experience.
