About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at SAPPHIRE SOUTH INDIAN KITCHEN. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our dining areas and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service
    • Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items to meet customer demands.
    • Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware.
    • Package take-out food and ensure it is presented in a clean and appealing manner.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation
    • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas.
    • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit for use in food preparation.
    • Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and handle and store cleaning products.
  • Customer Service
    • Serve customers at counters or buffet tables, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
    • Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas.
  • Inventory and Supply Management
    • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
    • Stock refrigerators and salad bars, and ensure that all food and supplies are properly labeled and stored.
  • General Kitchen Duties
    • Carry and replace linen, and clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats and carts.
    • Sharpen kitchen knives and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
      • Will train on the job.
    • Physical Demands
      • Fast-paced environment.
      • Physically demanding.
      • Repetitive tasks.
      • Standing for extended periods.
    • Language and Transportation
      • Work Language: English.
      • Own transportation.
    • Work Conditions
      • Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) weight handling.
      • 40 hours per week.
