About the Role

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Academic Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly those from international backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Academic Coaching
    • Collect, organize, and analyze data to advise students on academic achievement strategies.
    • Provide individualized coaching to support students' academic goals.
    • Assist students with writing and presentation skills.
  • Group Facilitation
    • Design and deliver group sessions to support academic success.
    • Develop and deliver supplemental English language skills bridging programs.
  • Enhancing Student Experience
    • Develop strong relationships with faculty, staff, and leadership to ensure student success.
    • Stay current with research on student learning and success, including study skills, transition issues, and student experience.
    • Contribute to college working groups focused on student success and international student experience.
    • Develop resources to support student academic success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, Counseling) or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on international students and English language support.
  • International experience and proficiency in a second language are considered assets.
  • High emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Commitment to health and safety policies.
