Overview

The Quality Control Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality assurance operations at our Calgary Bottling Production Facility. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position is responsible for directing and coordinating activities within the quality assurance team, ensuring effective collaboration with production staff. The supervisor will implement preventive and predictive quality assurance strategies to maintain high standards across all production assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the quality of ingredients, products, and packaging to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures in collaboration with the Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance teams.
  • Ensure all quality assurance equipment is functioning optimally.
  • Maintain adherence to corporate, franchise, and regulatory policies and standards.
  • Monitor production processes, conduct regular checks, and adjust equipment as necessary to meet corporate requirements.
  • Supervise QA Technicians in the quality assurance lab and syrup production area.
  • Recruit, train, assess, and develop quality assurance personnel.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for compliance and maintain proper records.
  • Conduct internal audits focusing on quality, food safety, and environmental standards.
  • Manage water treatment and effluent processing systems.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Environmental Health & Safety standards.
  • Support and participate in external audits to uphold quality and food safety certifications.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in an ISO/Food Safety environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving skills in team settings.
  • Experience with labor relations and union environments is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of water treatment systems in the food and beverage sector.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and FSSC 22000 standards.
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the food and beverage industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience is preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in computer and database applications.
