About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Rehabilitation Services team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure.

The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services while working within the hospital, client's home, and community settings. This role requires the ability to establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis.

The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, and functions as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. This role also involves contributing to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines, as well as supervising OT Assistants.

The successful applicant will be responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures, as well as the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists. The Occupational Therapist may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • A commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • The ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • The ability to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $42.89 per hour. Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.

Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
