Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist (OT) operates under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Services Manager. This role involves collaborating with clients, their families, and caregivers to enhance, restore, or maintain optimal functioning in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities.

Key Responsibilities

The OT is responsible for:

  • Conducting assessments, providing treatment, and evaluating progress while working in various settings including hospitals and community environments.
  • Developing personalized treatment plans in partnership with clients, managing a diverse caseload, and utilizing clinical judgment to prioritize daily tasks.
  • Offering education and support to clients, families, and caregivers to promote understanding and engagement in the therapeutic process.
  • Collaborating as part of an occupational therapy team and an interprofessional healthcare group.
  • Contributing to the training of OT students and supervising OT Assistants.
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth by Nova Scotia Health and the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.
Qualifications

We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Mandatory licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • A commitment to fostering a respectful and safe work environment that values ethical practices and cultural sensitivity.
  • The capability to work autonomously and collaboratively, while efficiently planning and supervising tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service and the facility.
  • Reliable transportation access.
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $42.89. Successful candidates may qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance, subject to a defined Return of Service agreement. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
