The role of the Therapy Assistant is vital in delivering progressive and expanding services, emphasizing professional growth and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement individual and group therapeutic interventions aligned with patients' rehabilitation objectives.
  • Maintain and prepare treatment environments, ensuring they are organized and equipped with necessary supplies.
  • Assist in the management of storage areas and perform clerical tasks as needed.

Role Functionality:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will collaborate within an interprofessional team, receiving direction and oversight from audiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, or speech-language pathologists. Your contributions will enhance rehabilitation services, encompassing direct and indirect client care across various stages of health and wellness, including:

  • Promoting healthy living
  • Facilitating recovery
  • Supporting individuals living with chronic conditions
  • Providing end-of-life care

This position requires effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and ethical standards in client-centered care and teamwork. You will engage in reflective practices and continuous learning to elevate both personal and team competencies.

Qualifications:

Completion of a diploma from an accredited rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Candidates should possess excellent observational skills and the capacity to convey findings clearly and accurately. Physical capability to manage the demands of the role, including assisting with mobility and transfers, is required.

Preferred Experience:

Experience exceeding three months in an inpatient rehabilitation setting, specifically caring for stroke and brain-injured patients, is highly regarded.
