The Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) is a non-profit entity dedicated to overseeing the comprehensive management of end-of-life processing for various materials, including electronics, paint, tires, and used oil. Our mission is to facilitate a sustainable circular economy, striving towards our vision of a future free from waste.

To further our objectives, we are in search of a Lead EPR Engagement Specialist to become a vital part of our team.

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Client Relations, the Lead EPR Engagement Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the team's effectiveness by coordinating and executing initiatives aimed at increasing both external and internal awareness of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program.

This position demands a unique combination of communication skills, outreach capabilities, stakeholder engagement, and environmental knowledge, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to sustainability and eager to foster positive environmental change.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Conduct comprehensive analyses of incoming communications to gauge business sentiment and inform strategic planning.
2. Oversee the registration and onboarding processes for community and service programs.
3. Assist in the development and coordination of communication strategies to effectively promote the program's mission and services.
4. Provide administrative support and guidance for outreach initiatives, events, and services.
5. Collaborate on data analysis and knowledge dissemination efforts with project partners.
6. Work closely with administrative teams to ensure consistent and clear communication for EPR inquiries via phone or email.

7. Actively engage with community stakeholders, representing ARMA at various events, meetings, and public forums to cultivate and strengthen relationships, demonstrating strong cultural sensitivity.

8. Analyze business processes and data workflows to identify improvement opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

9. Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate relationship-building and knowledge sharing, ensuring effective communication between technical and non-technical parties.

10. Contribute to the formulation of program policies and procedures.

11. Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to investigate issues related to EPR integration functionality and interoperability.

12. Maintain accurate and up-to-date Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation.

13. Prepare reports, develop queries, and utilize data analysis to assist leadership in making informed, strategic decisions.

14. Uphold a thorough understanding of and adherence to Alberta Recycling policies, procedures, and standards.

15. Foster a positive and safe workplace culture by exemplifying organizational values.

16. Perform additional job-related duties and support team members as necessary.


Qualifications and Skills:


• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, political science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
• Strong political and cultural awareness.
• Proficient in Office 365 applications.

• Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, demonstrating effective time management and stress coping skills under tight deadlines.

• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Recognized ability to engage groups and facilitate discussions.

• Discretion in handling confidential and politically sensitive information is essential.

• Proven track record in developing, delivering, and implementing innovative strategies is advantageous.
