Your responsibilities will include performing moderately complex clerical tasks related to the precise preparation, calculation, and completion of municipal payrolls for all city employees and affiliated boards.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma supplemented by completion of the National Payroll Institute’s Payroll Compliance Practitioner program, along with relevant experience in a unionized computerized payroll setting. Membership in good standing with the National Payroll Institute is required.
  2. Familiarity with the methods, practices, and principles involved in payroll preparation, calculation, and processing, as well as the applicable rules, regulations, and legislation.
  3. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, rules, and collective agreements pertinent to municipal payroll operations.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and maintain productive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Capability to exercise tact and diplomacy when explaining payroll calculations and related provisions of collective agreements and legislative requirements.
  6. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  7. Ability to pass and uphold a satisfactory Police Information Check.
