About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in human nutrition, dietetics, and clinical nutrition, with a focus on providing evidence-based practice. You will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to develop and implement nutrition care plans, and provide education and support to patients and families.

We are looking for a Dietitian who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, and who is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in nutrition and dietetics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams
  • Provide education and support to patients and families
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in nutrition and dietetics
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized University
  • Dietetic Internship Program required
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience counselling patients
  • Current WHMIS an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
