Property and Casualty Underwriting Specialist

Aviva Canada Inc. presents a remarkable opportunity within our Small Medium and Enterprise (SME) commercial insurance division. We are currently looking for a Junior or Intermediate Underwriter specializing in Commercial Lines Property and Casualty (P&C) to join our team. This role focuses on acquiring new business while managing a significant portfolio of commercial P&C accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess risks associated with both new and existing business ventures.
  • Implement corporate underwriting guidelines and collaborate with colleagues to enhance branch expertise.
  • Review analytical reports to ensure appropriate exposure and loss assessment.
  • Stay informed about market dynamics, pricing strategies, and changes in policy formats.
  • Employ loss control and risk management techniques throughout the underwriting process.
  • Address broker inquiries regarding policy modifications efficiently and effectively.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with brokers while managing an assigned portfolio.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial P&C underwriting.
  • Completion or progress towards CIP designation is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and perform well under pressure.
  • Familiarity with RTM systems is an advantage.
