Senior Underwriter, Commercial Group Solutions Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Group Solutions team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing, selecting, and underwriting commercial property and casualty business in our Specialty Solutions department.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and select commercial property and casualty business for underwriting, following Intact underwriting guidelines and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and subject to authority level as specified by underwriting manager.
- Develop business opportunities and long-term meaningful relationships with broker partners by providing legendary service.
- Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies.
- Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
- Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and underwriters through verbal and written correspondence.
- Participate in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
- Review underwriting reports and make recommendations as required.
- Communicate changes related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines, and new products.
- Support and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact.
- Post-secondary education or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a P&C insurance environment.
- A CIP graduate, or are working towards it.
- Strong analytical and customer service skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, the ability to work under pressure, and flexibility to change.
- Strong analytical, negotiating skills, and business savvy.
- Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers.
- Can make decisions in time-sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action, and take calculated risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an intermediate Excel proficiency.
- No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
