Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee activities and personnel involved in the construction of underground structures and systems.
  • Interpret and clarify plans for workers and subcontractors.
  • Train staff in the proper use of tools and monitor their performance.
  • Address delays or emergencies that arise at construction sites.
  • Ensure all work is executed safely and in compliance with project specifications, safety codes, and regulations.
  • Recommend materials, equipment, and manpower needs as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit reports on progress and cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with personnel, superintendents, and subcontractors to resolve issues related to work procedures and construction.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management.
  • Travel as needed for meetings, site visits, and training.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of construction materials, methods, tools, and related personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Familiarity with safety policies and procedures in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Understanding of business and management principles related to planning, resource allocation, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of machinery and tools, including their design, usage, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and guide team members effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capability to identify problems and assess information to devise and implement solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 to 8 years of underground work experience, providing comprehensive knowledge of excavation methods and techniques.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
