Key Responsibilities
As a Water and Sanitation Engineering Specialist with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), your primary goal will be to mitigate and manage health risks associated with contaminated water and inadequate sanitation or hygiene practices, both within the healthcare facilities we operate and in surrounding communities. This role may entail overseeing the water and sanitation systems for a complete refugee settlement.
Your duties will encompass ensuring a consistent water supply, developing or enhancing sanitation infrastructure, and facilitating hygiene promotion initiatives, in addition to organizing effective medical waste management. Collaboration with both medical and non-medical personnel on the project team will be essential. You will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding other team members.
Qualifications
A technical degree in civil, geological, mechanical, or environmental engineering, focusing on surface water, groundwater, treatment, distribution, and disposal At least two years of relevant professional experience post-qualification Proven experience in leading a diverse team (supervision and training) Proficient in English, with a working knowledge of French (level B2) or another language (Arabic, Spanish). Assets Experience or knowledge in healthcare waste management and vector control. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.MSF Core Competencies
